As surf lifesavers gear up for a busy patrolling season, DHL Express Australia (DHL) has announced the renewal of its longstanding partnership with Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA). For 21 years, DHL has played a key role in making Australia’s beaches safer through this collaboration.
Volunteer surf lifesavers, dedicated to reducing drownings on Australian beaches, consistently devote their time and often risk their safety to protect the community. Last year, surf lifesavers made over 9,000 rescues and nearly two million preventative actions. All this vital work wouldn’t be possible without DHL’s continued support, which has been a committed partner providing essential equipment, training, and resources since 2003.
Adam Weir, CEO of SLSA says the organisation is grateful to have DHL standing beside them for what will be another busy season.
“Last year, we saw a spike in drowning deaths around Australia, and with growing coastal visitation and warmer weather predicted, another busy season is ahead of us. Our volunteer surf lifesavers are dedicated to keeping beachgoers safe. Still, they could not do what they do without partners like DHL, whose support helps us deliver vital training, equipment and logistics.
“I would like to thank DHL for their longstanding support of Surf Life Saving and look forward to continuing our wonderful partnership for many years to come.”
Phil Corcoran, Managing Director, Australia and Papua New Guinea, DHL Express, says the partnership is about supporting everyday Aussie heroes.
“We are delighted to renew our partnership with Surf Life Saving Australia, a truly iconic organisation that has championed awareness of beach safety for many years and provided people with a place to connect with their local community.”
“In this partnership renewal, we continue our commitment to supporting Surf Life Saving Australia in its mission and shared purpose of connecting people and improving lives. We look forward to continuing delivering safer beaches for all communities in our next chapter together.”
Since the establishment of the partnership, Surf Life Saving Australia has been able to grow their membership to include over 193,000 members, 47,000 patrolling surf lifesavers and 315 surf lifesaving clubs around the country.
